UNESCO World Heritage Site

Time for nature

The Grand Canyon in the USA, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific: these wonders of the natural world have all been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And since June 2009 the same goes for the Wadden Sea, in which the island of Norderney lies. The charm of this conservation area may be rather more austere than some of the other World Heritage sites, but it has a unique fascination: common and grey seals, millions of migratory birds, water stretching away to the horizon, pools, watercourses and salt marshes alternating with vast beaches and rolling dunes. We have developed special walking routes through this extraordinary landscape for our guests.
